Building on Faith Service Day

“An opportunity to use your time and talents with others in the local community.”

Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent are mobilizing volunteers to offer a “hand-up” to several local congregations and retreat centers to accomplish service project(s) on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Families and individuals of all ages are invited to participate. In addition to minor building maintenance and repairs, painting, landscaping and other types of project work, there are needs for individuals to supply and deliver work team lunches, help serve breakfast, provide post-work refreshments, take photographs, provide childcare and more. Building on Faith Service Day is an excellent opportunity for young people to earn required community service hours. We also welcome adult volunteers who have leadership or construction experience that can serve as volunteer crew captains or assist with pre-event logistics.

NBRC has teamed up with Habitat to preform a service project in conjunction with the September 14th “Building of Faith Day” to “Spruce Up” Sunrise House now that the new siding project has been completed.

Work to be preformed includes the following at Sunrise House:

  1. 1) Mulching of the foundation landscape plantings and trees on the property.
  2. 2) Filling, regrading and top soiling & seeding the low area between the Sunrise House and NBRC driveways.

If we have sufficient volunteers we will complete the following additional work:

  1. 3) Mulch landscape areas front of Church and Kirkside.
  2. 4) Mulch landscape areas rear of Church.
  3. 5) Use leaf blower to clean up paved areas.

The day starts at Pluckemin Church at 8:30 am with work at NBRC and 5 to 6 other locations between 9am to 3pm.

In addition to the above, volunteers are needed work and to serve breakfast & lunch to the crews working at the 5-6 other locations in Somerset Co.

Volunteers are asked to register no later than Thursday, September 5th and indicate multiple areas where they would be willing to assist. For more information and to register, go to
